Trouble Shooting Air Conditioners

Before you call a air conditioning service repair man to check your air conditioner thats not cooling you may want to check some of these possible causes. First and most obvious is to be sure your system air filter is not restricted. In many cases this will cause your evaporator or indoor coil to freeze up. If the system has a fan v-belt make sure it is not cracked broke or slipping. If the evaporator coil is froze up you may notice condensate leaking in and around the furnace, air handler or window type A/C unit. Another more apparent sign would be actually seeing ice build up on the coil or refrigeration lines connecting the evaporator and condenser.

Another cause for your system freezing up could be closed or blocked supply registers. In some cases people will close registers to unoccupied areas of their home for energy savings but closing to many can cause more problems than its worth. System freeze ups can also be related to a lose of refrigerant with in your air conditioner. If your system is low on refrigerant you will have to have a qualified air conditioning repair technician locate and repair the leak as well as properly recharge the system. Any time your air conditioner system is froze up you should place the thermostats fan switch to the on position and the cool system switch to off for a long enough time to allow the coils to completely thaw. After checking some or all of the potential problems you can try to run the air conditioner again. If you have air blowing out of your supply registers but its not cool you will want to check the condenser or out door unit to be sure it is running. If you do not hear anything running check the breaker or disconnect switch at the condenser. Their may also be bad fuses in the disconnect box. Tripped breakers or blow fused are typically caused by problems that need to be addressed by a technician . It is possible that a power surge or electrical storm could also cause a breaker to trip and once you reset it the system will be fine. Another common cause for the condenser not functioning is a broken or shorted low voltage wire. Mice and other rodents will tend to chew though these wires. The low voltage wire is typically a small two conductor wire that runs along side the refrigerant lines. If the condenser is running but not cooling you may want to clean it. This can be done by turning off power to it, then wet it down with a garden hose. Apply a air conditioning coil cleaning solvent to the coil surface. Convenient aerosol spray cans or mixable powder form can be purchased online at HVAC Maintenance & Supplies.

(www.mainsupplies.com) Allow the coil to soak for 3-5 minutes then flush out with a garden hose. Be sure the water pressure is not so high that it damages the coil fins. A coil fin tool, also available online at HVAC Maintenance & Supplies can be used to straighten the fins. Repeat this process until the water starts to flush out relatively clear. Safety glasses and rubber gloves should be worn when using coil cleaning chemicals. If your air conditioner is a portable window type you can carefully remove the units outer casing, apply coil cleaner to both evaporator and condenser coils then flush with water. Most dirt will build up on the inside of the condenser coil that can not be seen with out removing the units outer casing. These tips may not resolve all your air conditioning problems but I can tell you that as a service technician myself these are some of the most common problems I have encountered.

How Fingerprint Recognition Works

Biometrics is the identification of a person based on his/her intrinsic characteristics, such as voice, writing, fingerprint, iris, face, hand geometry, etc. It is a system that recognizes a person based on "who" the person is and does not rely on "what a person is carrying" or "what a person knows".

One of the most widely known and used biometric identification scheme is fingerprint. Fingerprint analysis and identification is a 100-year old science, with thousands of studies made and articles written, and thus confidence rates of more than 99%. It's the cheapest, fastest, most convenient and most reliable way to identify someone. That's why fingerprint alone has almost 60% of the biometric world market, according to the Biometrics Market and Industry Report 2007-2012 from the International Biometric Group. Cars, cell phones, PDAs, personal computers and dozens of products and devices are using fingerprints more and more. Fingerprint recognition can be used from criminal investigations to time attendance systems, in a movie rental or in a police identification institute.

A fingerprint contain a number of unique physical characteristics called minutiae, which includes certain visible aspects of fingerprints such as ridges, ridge endings and bifurcations (forks in ridges). Minutiae are generally found in the core points of fingerprints, located near the center of the fingertips. These characteristics are used to distinguish two fingerprints, or to state that they are the same. Even identical twins have different fingerprints.

There are a number of different ways to get an image of a fingerprint, and the most common methods today for electronic fingerprint readers are optical scanning and capacitance scanning. When a fingerprint is applied to - or passed over - the sensor window of the fingerprint reader, the fingerprint is scanned and a gray-scale image is captured. A special computer software then identifies the key minutiae points from the image. These points are then converted into a unique digital representation, called "template", comparable to a very big password.

When a fingerprint enrollment is done, only the fingerprint template is stored, not the actual image of the fingerprint. The fingerprint template is not only smaller than the finger image, but also faster to process when comparing two fingerprints.

Fingerprint recognition technology is divided into two distinct processes: verification and identification.

In the verification process the user states who he/she is and a fingerprint is taken and compared to the user's previously registered fingerprint. If the fingerprints match, the user is "verified" as who he/she says he/she is. Since the newly acquired fingerprint is compared to only one stored fingerprint, this is called a one-to-one matching process (1:1). As in the enrollment process, when a fingerprint verification is done, only the fingerprint template is used in the comparison, not the actual image of the fingerprint.

In the identification process the user doesn't need to state who he/she is. A fingerprint is taken and compared to each fingerprint in the database of registered users. When a match occurs, the user is "identified" as the existing user the system found. Since the newly acquired fingerprint is compared to many stored fingerprints, this is called a one-to-many matching process (1:N). As in the verification process, when a fingerprint identification is done, only the fingerprint template is used in the comparison, not the actual image of the fingerprint.

Although it may appear to be a simple process, fingerprint recognition involves the state-of-the-art technology in hardware, for the readers, and software, to process the fingerprint images and templates. But due to the effort of the hardware and software makers, all this complexity is hidden and fingerprint technology usage is nowadays as simple as touching the reader.

Fireplace design Ideas

Are you trying to find some inspiring information about fireplace design ideas? There are some basic elements to any fireplace that are generally addressed in turn, in order to come up with a complete fireplace design. There are three main components to any fireplace design.

The three primary components to fireplace design include the hearth, the firebox and the type of opening that is employed between the firebox and the room in which the fireplace is located. The hearth is the area outside of the firebox, in general. The firebox is the area in which the fire itself will be burned.

Hearths

Let's first talk about hearths. A hearth may be flush with the floor, raised above the floor, or sunk down lower than the floor. Additionally, there may be no hearth to speak of at all. In these cases the firebox should be at least two inches above the floor, as the hearth is what helps protect the floor from the heat of the fire.

Another type of hearth may include hearth seats of various kinds. The most traditional and popular type of fireplace with hearth seats are the kinds that feature simply two blocks on either side of the firebox opening.

Fireboxes

As with the hearth types, the different kinds of fireboxes generally have mainly to do with the height relative to the floor and / or hearth. There are raised fireboxes, flush fireboxes that are the same height as the floor, and there are dropped fireboxes that are somewhat lower than the hearth and / or floor in front of the fireplace.

Fireplace Openings

Of course the most widely utilized type of fireplace opening is the rectangular opening. Generally, a rectangular opening will be just that: rectangular in shape. However, even with rectangular openings, the sides typically flare outward from the firebox toward the face of the fireplace.

There are flat arch top openings where the sides are straight, yet the tope of the opening has a slight arch to the shape. As with the traditional rectangular opening, the sides typically flare outward from the firebox toward the face of the fireplace.

There are full arch fireplace openings where the opening contains no straight lines. These types of fireplace openings have one continuous curve all around the fireplace opening. This is the type of opening you are probably used to seeing in American Southwestern style fireplaces.

There are also corner fireplace openings that allow for there to be two open sides to the fireplace. As the name suggests, a corner opening fireplace is situated in such a way that an entire corner section of the firebox is exposed.

There are U-shaped fireplace openings where the firebox is exposed on three sides, the front, as well as the two side areas. These last two types of fireplace openings will generally produce better heat radiation. If you will be using your fireplace to heat your home, and not merely as decoration these are certainly worth looking into. For images of these various fireplace styles, take a look at http://www.fireplacesnow.com/FireplaceStyles.htm .

Outdoor Speakers - Enjoy Your Favorite musicAlfresco

From jazz at your local park to large rock festivals, musichas long been enjoyed outdoors with nature. So why not have your own personal concert under the stars with some outdoor speakers in your backyard retreat. Whether you are entertaining or lounging alone, a stereo equipped with outdoor speakers can set the mood for summer fun. Sure your mother may have laid on the beach listening to a transistor radio and you may have soaked up some rays on the same patch of sand with your boombox. Now, your daughter and her iPod are seldom parted, but with outdoor speakers in your backyard everyone can kick back and enjoy some tunes.

Outdoor speakers come in many shapes, sizes and styles. Traditional outdoor speakers you can mount on a wall, preferably under the eaves for protection against the elements. Make sure you are able to easily un-mount them to bring them in for the winter. To seamlessly blend your audio equipment with the environment, choose some disguised as rocks or try waterproof versions you can hide amongst the lush foliage of your garden. There are even speakers disguised as planters or hanging baskets. You can also try wireless versions to easily move the sound where you want or need it without dealing with troublesome wires.

You will have to deal with wires for the majority of speakers, so it is important to keep this in mind when you are placing them around your patio paradise. After you decide where the most common listen area will be, take a look around and make note of any possible wiring obstacles such as walkways, sprinkler systems or even the patio itself. Once you do this, use wire that you can bury, since it will be moisture proof and simply place the speakers an equal distance apart from the common listening area for the best sound.

Considering that your speakers are going to be outside the majority of the time it is important that they have a warranty for more than one year. Some come with ten-year warrantees others with lifetime ones. No matter what you choose you just want to ensure that your new speakers last for more than one season in the sun.

So, throw open the doors and enjoy the simple pleasures of warm sunshine and sweet, air while relaxing on the patio. Your garden is full of lush greens and brightly colored flowers, their fragrance wafting gently in the air and your favorite chair, with the extra fluffy cushion waits for you to settle into its familiar comfort. A teak dining set is ready to be dressed for tonights barbeque party and the garden arbor, covered in cascading blooms beckons you to stroll through this backyard paradise that is your very own. A Bob Marley tune pumps its reggae beat out of your new outdoor speakers and sets the mood for lazy summer days and endless summer nights. Sometimes all it takes to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary ones is a little mood music.

As an owner of many indoor and outdoor decor sites, Jennifer Akre reviews information and shares ideas on outdoor patio furniture and patio accessories, giving the online consumer a chance to find valuable information on teak outdoor furniture or patio furniture. Learning To Read music Notes

Almost all the soft cases have zips and pockets to let you keep your adapters, pedals, music notes or books. Composing would include making a new free ringtone with the help of music notes. What do you do if you want to play a song using chords instead of the written sheet music notes, but the song doesn't have any chord symbols printed -- symbols such as Cm7, G13, B+, D dim7, etc.

Amidi file may contain 200 music notes in a fraction of the waveform size. Dont forget if you can read music then youre off to a flying start but most of us have to learn it and even this is covered in music Notes for Children or Adults. There are lots of music notes to memorize.

And if you learn to read your music notes too, you can access an amazing array of simple popular piano books and learn to play your favorite music easily with your own unique accompaniments. Classical Western music is even additional dependent on chords, the sounding of two or more notes musical notes simultaneously. There lay buried a young man, only twenty seven years of age, music notes adorning his tombstone and the words, Even so, - it is well with my soul.

You could do this in a variety of ways from several small music notes on the card to lots of mini ones or just one large one. Playing piano chords and learning to read music notes can be done with ease by using the correct techniques. Over time, as students gain experience and begin to recognize melody in the music notes, they feel more confident interpreting the music on their own.

However, for all but the simplest songs, it is a great advantage to be able to read music notes so that you can accurately read the tune and rhythm of the melody from sheet music. Coleman added a happy-birthday-to-you verse to the good-morning-to-you verse and original music notes. Improve Your Sight ReadingIf you have no trouble reading music notes you learn a new song much faster.

People in this group would have a thorough understanding of music theory and would be able to read traditional music notes flawlessly. When the hero is in the frame, a similar repetition of a handful music notes supports that. music notes swam in his head like golden coy when his doctor explained how the cancer was spreading.

This type of ringtone represents lot of music notes played on only one channel. Players in this group are those who are mostly self taught, have little or no formal training, play by ear, and read tablature but not music notes. First I saw what looked like music notes and then I saw what looked like two people hugging.

How To Sell Your music On MySpace

MySpace.com is one of the great Internet success stories of our time. It is in the top five or ten most popular web sites on the planet, right up there with Google, Yahoo and Ebay.

With more than 190 million registered users and hundreds of thousands of music acts setting up free profiles on the site, MySpace.com is a godsend for the independent artist.

MySpace is absolutely free and what struggling, or rather, up and coming artist does not love that?

This should go without saying, but...

If you aren't promoting your music on MySpace yet, you need to start fast!

In order to do that, you will need to create an artist page on MySpace music. You make one by going to the music section in MySpace and signing up. You treat it like a normal MySpace, except you can download music from your computer onto it. Now all you have to do is enter your information and genre and you are ready to go. You can upload photos, create a bio, customize your page and starting adding your music.

Just beware that you account could be terminated if the music is not originally owned and created by you or your band.

If you already have a MySpace artist profile, you need to make the most use of it so you get the widest exposure possible. You will need to include a killer headline to grab peoples attention. Properly fill out every section including your artist influences and what your music sounds like. Be honest yet original. Add as many photos of yourself (or your band) as possible. Photos are important - people are always curious to see what you or your band looks like!

Then start building a massive, yet relevant friends list. Start adding friends and people from your local area that have similar musical interests, hobbies and likes. Slowly build outside your immediate area and work throughout the country (or the world!) from there.

Post bulletins about upcoming events to grab your fans attention. Create a MySpace music group and invite people to subscribe to your blog. Blog daily and entertain your fans. Build a community because people will keep coming back if they can connect with other like-minded people.

When promoting on the Internet, a personal approach is ideal. Although glitzy advertising may still work in the offline world, when people go online, they don't connect with flashy logos, theme songs or mission statements. They connect with people. And when lots of people know who you are and what you stand for, you are in an incredible position to better your life and profit from your efforts.

Keep your page updated or people will become bored and move on. Make sure you have links where fans can go and purchase your music online. Blogging can increase your page ranking and essentially draw more people into your site.

Finally, network with other bands by taking full advantage of MySpace for bands and musicians. Meeting new people and networking is one of the best ways to market yourself. The more people you meet, the more connections you have. This opens up opportunities to book gigs, sell more music and maybe get signed!

Record labels are always looking for unique and marketable musicians and MySpace can often be the first port of call - for fans, label managers and A&R to check you out. So it makes very good sense for you, as an unsigned artist, to have a MySpace music profile.

Time spent promoting your music on web sites like MySpace contributes to your overall exposure, and brings in that many more CD and music sales. Obviously, there are other sites and ways to promote your music online but MySpace is an easy and inexpensive place to start to get yourself or your band massive exposure.

Do You Do Brunch?

Brunch must have been invented by a female. When we lived on the East Coast, brunch was a late, Sunday breakfast at home. It was an edible excuse for me to sleep more and cook less.

On the West Coast brunch is big business. On the West Coast you don't have bunch, you DO brunch. On the West Coast you do brunch on Saturday or Sunday.

There are two kinds of brunch - menu and buffet. If it's my choice, it means my birthday is on a weekend.

I avoid brunches on major holidays - especially Mother's Day. I don't want to pick a corsage out of the eggs benedict.

I like buffet brunches more than menu brunches. If it's my choice, I choose the buffet with more choice.

Having my big meal at midday is good for my conscience, which foolishly feeds on the idea I'm going to exercise afterward. I don't - unless walking to and from our car to nap on the couch counts as exercise.

Having a fixed price for this munching marathon, no matter what the price is, is a bargain when you have teenage sons.

Some brunchers wait for a table with a view, which makes it easier to get a table with the view we want - of the buffet.

Our system is to make three trips to the table - appetizers, entrees and desserts. Okay, occasionally there are four trips. The extra trip is for the best of show in the appetizer and entrees categories.

I'm proud to say we've never made five trips. At that point I think our server would give us troughs instead of clean plates.

In the buffet line I'm usually behind Mr. Pile-it-on or Ms Indecision. Usually the almost-gones taste better than the hardly-trieds and few brunchers are willing to try something they don't recognize and that doesn't have a name card.

Not me. I'm always looking for something new and different. I can get runny scrambled eggs, dry sausage and unripe fruit at home.

Yes, some brunches are better than others; but I always eat too much. I leave the restaurant not wanting to see Belgian waffles, cheese blintzes or bread pudding for at least a month.

In the meantime, I wait for an enterprising chef - an enterprising, female chef to invent lunner. After all, by combining lunch with dinner, she'd have an edible excuse for sleeping more and cooking less.
